Wonder what it’s heritage is. Looks a PRR 10-6, maybe xxx Rapids.
I found this online.
"The car was built by Pullman Standard in 1954 as CNR 1083 "CAPE BRULE", a 2 double bedroom 2 compartment buffet lounge."

FRA DOTX 221 is a track survey car that is basically automated. There may have been no passengers on board.

What is always strange about the FRA car is that every time I see it the trap is completely open.

Silly questions perhaps but what do these FRA cars do? What is inside them?

They measure track geometry set to FRA track standards. The two monitors provide real time track conditions.
