Help with upcoming trips

This summer, I will be taking 4 different trips on Amtrak and would appreciate any words of guidance on things to watch out for, pitfalls, lessons learned, etc. from the experienced readers in forum.

In order, my 2 sons and I will be on the following trains in late June / early July:

SW Chief: TRI > KCY; Deluxe Bedroom C overnight

Empire Builder: MSP > MKE; reserved coach

Hiawatha Service: MKE > CHI; unreserved coach

Texas Eagle: STL > DAL; Deluxe Bedroom D overnight
