I've forgotten how to attach a picuture to a post. I've searched the FAQ, and a general search with no help. I set up accounts at Shutterfly and Flicr and tried linking to my pictures at those sites, but get an invalaid format error messages.???

Thanks

Yes, I know how to copy and paste a link....but I've forgotten how to attach an actual photo vs a link
Aloha

When you compose your post the second button under Fonts is what you use, It sort of looks like a picture. This is to the right of the "Emoticons"

Hope I answered your question.

No, still having problems. I tried this from the very start. I get the following error:

THE FOLLOWING ERROR(S) WERE FOUND

You are not allowed to use that image extension on this board. A valid format is: http://www.domain.com/picture.gif, an invalid format is: http://www.domain.com/picture.one.gif

I tried to show your text and corrected text but the board objected, and I don't know how to show something that the board won't act on so hopefully the next sentence makes sense to you

Somehow In using this button the leading tag got lost.

the other thing I see is an extension that may not be correct, sorry I don't know how to show code examples

The problem is with the format of the file, the JSP extension is not allowed by the board. The only types allowed by the board are GIF, JPEG, JPG, PNG.

Now that said, JSP is not a format used by pictures. If the one link that you provided is of the same type that you are using for all of your pictures, that is your problem. You are trying to link to the entire Shuterfly page, not just the photo on the page. You need to get the direct link to the picture, not to the entire page displaying your picture. If you can supply me with a direct link to one of your pages, either publicly or via PM, then I may be able to tell you how to get the picture only link.

According to Shutterfly you can't link to your pictures, they don't permit it. See this from the Shutterfly site.

You'll have to try a site like photobook or a similar site in order to display your pictures here. Sorry. :(

You can also try this - when you see the picture on the website you are using, right click on that picture and a dialog box will pop up. Down at the bottom is will say: PROPERTIES.

Copy the entire line to the right of properties. Paste that information into the forum using the INSERT IMAGE icon option.

Sometimes photo websites also have a number of links you can use under each picture for email, forums, blogs, etc. Copy the one under forums if that is available, otherwise as I explained first.

Add .jpg to your link. The Railpictures photos I had to right click on the picture and go to properties and copy that link.

Hope this helps.

I'm trying to figure out how to put my Picasa pictures, for example this one in a post. I've tried both copying the URL in the "properties" menu of the pictures and using the"HTML to embed in website" code with the "insert picture" tool here on the board. The regular link is not to one of the accepted formats (JPG etc.), and none of those codes to the right of the picture seem to work, both with the HTML insert tool and the dynamic image tags. Is there any way to put these pictures in a post?

EDIT: addong .jpg to the end of the image URL produced only the above box.

you need to right click go to copy picture URL; paste in with in the IMG tags and then delete everything AFTER the ".jpg" so you get this:

Code:
[img=http://lh5.google.com/amtraker7/RwkjFtNVELI/AAAAAAAAAMw/20rYa_Ue_C0/tre-atl36.jpg]

or atleast it *should* work.

Guys, in Railbirder's case it isn't going to matter what he does or what extension he puts at the end of the filename, if he continues to use Shutterfly.

They don't allow people to link to pictures on their website.

It can be a pain to actually accomplish what you want to do. The couple of times I have posted pictures, I only posted them temporarily, and to do it I actually stored them on the church web site that I am webmaster for. I had no links to those photos within the church web site, so they were invisible to that web site's visitors. That way I had a static location to link to for purposes of this board. I don't currently use any of the commercial on-web image storage sites.

I tried flicr and photobucket too...thanks for all your help and ideas.

You can attach photos with Flickr. This shot is on Flickr. Right click my picture and look at properties.

I use photobucket. under each thumbnail @ photobucket it gives you 3 option for sharing it; one of which is forum code. just click it an it automatically copies the hole code. and paste.
