Inexpensive first class on the Starlight within California

From Sacramento to LA, I found a room for $124 for this month.

Looking further ahead in October it looks like most dates are available for the lowest bucket ("ED") from SAC to LAX for the $124 add-on.

I'm doing exactly this next week. Taking the Starlight fro OKJ to LA with a roomette for $141. I think it was about $90 for the room. Well worth it. About ten years ago I did the same thing in the opposite direction with my two daughters who were about 14 and 25 years old at the time. They allowed us to book a single roomette for the day trip and we got lunch and dinner for three people. At that time I think the roomette add-on was about $60. We ate more than that and of course had the Pacific Parlor car to stretch out in.
