I commute daily on the Washington Metro only about 4 miles from Van Dorn to King Street. The trip follows the CSX tracks and the Junction south of Alexandria with NS. Normally in the morning I see the 67 (the overnite regional) headed south and maybe a VRE into WAS. In the afternoon, a VRE headed south and a freight or 50 or 80 headed North. Today I hit the jackpot. In under 20 min I saw three Amtrak trains (80 and 90 northbound) and 93 headed south with 7 coaches and a cafe, 2 VRE headed southbound and the Tropicana train headed north. I have noticed as of late the Regionals headed south have been growing in length.

It's the additional secret quiet cars! Maybe they aren't so secret anymore.

I still enjoy riding in them. :p

Congratulations on the excellent on-train railfan bonanza.
