There was an interesting railfanning article in today's Spokane Spokesman-Review about railroads and railfanning in Sandpoint, ID. Amtrak got a passing mention too. The Sandpoint area and Lake Pend Oreille in particular is very scenic and it's a shame the EB can't run through there in the daytime, though I know it's much more important for it to make reasonable connections to Seattle and Chicago than it is for it to provide passengers with the optimum scenic opportunities. The only time passengers get to see Sandpoint and the area is if either EB is running hours late, and at that point I doubt if many passengers particularly care how scenic it is!

;)
