Does anyone know why viewliner standard sleeper rooms seem wider and more accommodating than superliner standard sleeper rooms? Is the viewliner coach itself wider than a superliner? If not, what has been made smaller to give the impression that the viewliner standard bedroom is wider than the equivalent in the superliner – you sure can’t get a toilet into a superliner standard bedroom.

Well the Viewliner may have smaller hallways than a Superliner (that could add to the overall spaciousness) but the cars themselves are not wider, if anything a Superliner is wider since its walls don't slant inward. Also, the addition of the second row of windows creates height in the rooms which adds to the spacious feeling in the rooms.

Actually, according to Trainweb.com, the rooms are very similar dimensions. The Viewliner rooms are a little longer, but the width is identical. The Viewliner Standard rooms are 6'8" x 3'6", whereas the Superliner Standard rooms are 6'6" x 3'6". According to this page at trainweb.com: Viewliner Standard rooms, the seat next to the toilet is slightly smaller than the other seat. In the Superliner, they're identically sized seats

IMHO the height of the rooms is really what creates the spacious feeling in the Viewliners.

The seat next to the toilet is indeed smaller than the facing seat. Additionally the beds taper at the feet to make it easier to climb up and still permint access to the toilet.

Then as Battalion mentioned the room is taller, plus since the bed moves straight up and does not rest at an angle, that makes the room seem more spacious. Especially with the extra upper level window.
