I'm sure I read a post, someone asking about reserving roomette for 2 and coach for 1 and if the 1 coach would be able to alternate with 1 in roomette.

Did I read it or dream it?

My mom is suggesting we do this with my 12 year old and I cannot remember what people posted as answers. Roomette for our travel is at $354 and bedrooms and family rooms start at $809 if I remember correctly. Big California trip, so cannot afford two roomettes.

I will be calling Amtrak on this, curious as to what the replies were.

If someone remembers this, I'd appreciate a link or even just the title name, I couldn't find it.

Thanks :)

I called Amtrak, no coach passengers allowed in roomette. Oh boo hoo

Yes this has been discussed before. I think the best comparison I read was that it you and your other bought a first class ticket on an airline and a coach class ticket for your 3rd, and then inviting them to come up and visit during the flight. others compared it to downright theft of service.two roomettes or a FB or a bedroom should be the logical choice.
