I am looking into planning a trip to New York, and putting in dummy dates far out to the future. I get $408 for the Alb to Chicago leg and $333 for the Chicago to New York leg. Well, yikes. Does this seem high or par for the course? I have previously checked a site that showed lowest bucket rates, but can't remember where it was or how to get the info.

Why can you not access it at work? Bad URL? Firewall?

What are you getting? Time out? Not Found? Try cleaning out your browser's cache.

Cleaned out the cache (temp files) and am still getting:

Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

Most likely causes:

  • You are not connected to the Internet.
  • The website is encountering problems.
  • There might be a typing error in the address.

What you can try:

That is a puzzlement. It works for me. Please post the exact URL that you are using.

:( Nope. Even tried amsnag.net. Both gave the same message.

One other experiment, please.

1. Click on http://www.dixielandsoftware.com/Amtrak/status/StatusPages/AnyTrainStatus.htm

2. For the train, type in 92. Make the date May, 1, 2012.

3. Click on "Get Info"

Was the train's file presented to you?

Please advise.

Oops! Internet Explorer could not connect to 74.242.207.26:8080

I'm wondering if my work is blocking it though I'm not getting "this site is blocked".

I'm thinking that your work is "filtering" ports 8008 and 8080. Unfortunately, I don't have a solution for you right now. I'll have to think about it for a while.

Sorry,

Thanks for trying. Guess I'll just have to get a smartphone if I want to access it from work  . Not sure I'm ready to pay the monthy data plan, though.

You might look into using a proxy server. I don't know how good they are, but here's one you can try:

http://anonymouse.org/

I should say that I did try this site, and it worked for me.

jb

PS Did you try the proxy server?
