we have a 5 hr layover and were thinking of going to rainforest cafe. Is there some place to leave our luggage at union station in chicago? It would be 5 carryons

Oh! When you get to Chicago, check into the lounge. It's through the doorway across from the escalators by the Amtrak Ticketing counter.

The lounge attendants will give you a colored paper pass to get back in. You can check your bags with the redcap across from the check-in desk. I usually tip about $1/bag when I retrieve my bags, but it's not required.

The lounge has free wi-fi; nice, clean bathrooms; free beverages; and free snacks. They also have TVs, couches, and chairs scattered about.

The pass will tell you what time to come back to catch your train. They'll have everyone line up by the rear door and then escort you out, as a group, to your train. (We often call this "the Kindergarten Walk".) :)

A five-hour layover is plenty of time to go to the Rainforest Cafe. You'll be really close to the Hard Rock Cafe too, if memorabilia is your thing.

yep! were hitting hard rock on the layover back. Im a hard rock addict, and have been to the chicago one 4 times and dc 4 times
