It was just reported on the local TV news that there has been a derailing of (IIRC) a freight train between NY & ALB. The report stated that on of two tracks was shut down for repairs and the derailing was (naturally) on the remaining line.

Passengers were being bussed but there were not enough busses for all passengers. Some were even pooling together to take a taxi to get to NY.

Correction: It wasn't a freight train. It was a Metro North train. See http://www.timesunion.com/AspStories/story.asp?storyID=809786

UPDATE

Here is a better article on the incident. http://www.cbs6albany.com/news/amtrak-1264081-causes-delays.html

let break it down on what happen. 49 passengers and crew (i was suppose to work that train to alb) got bussed to albany and they turn 48 into 49.There were crews who trains couldnt get in pass alb so then end up canceling them or turn them around. I on the other hand had to ride the bus then get on 49 to bufflao depew and then be taxi to work 284 from falls ny. (sorry my spelling sucks!).

The Derailment involved MNCR GP35r #104 which was part of CanaC P811 tie renewal train.

MNCR is installing concrete ties , the derailed locomotive fouled the only open track.
