Arriving into New Haven, CT about 8pm in November. New Haven Hotel looks "nearby" but may not be worth walking with luggage and in the dark. Are cabs generally clustered outside the station like they are in other northeast cities?

On a related note, girlfriend is actually letting us spring for the weekend Acela on the return to Baltimore! (may not seem like a big deal, but with her "thriftiness" we're lucky we're not taking the Chinatown bus).

Thanks in Advance,

JPS

At 8PM I would expect that you'd still find several taxis waiting at the New Haven station. If you were coming in after 10 and especially on a weekend, maybe the odds might go down a bit, but otherwise you should be ok.

The last time I was there, there were probably 20 cabs lined up waiting for fares. That is a very busy station for both Amtrak and Metro North, as well as a decent sized city.

If you can't find one parked out front just ask the lady at the desk inside and she'll call one for you.
