Hopefully later this year, a new Amtrak station will open in Oregon City, Oregon, and it will serve the Cascades trains (the city does not expect the Starlight to stop). It will be just a platform, and people will have to buy tickets onboard the trains (or at travel agencies). The new station will be across from the End of the Oregon Trail Center. I hoping that thought will be made about better transit bus service to and from the station. It is quite a distance from the downtown proper and from Tri-Met's transit center. It is quite a walk for most people--especially in the usual Oregon rain, not to mention the night time arrivals and departures of two of the runs. Anyway, it is a start.

I too would like to see many towns and cities opened for service, one of them is Oregon City, OR. Hopefully many more cities and trains are started.

Maybe Amtrak will consider adding a QuikTrak ticketing machine at the station if it does enough business. These machines are the best! :D

Right now, Oregon City--and others in Oregon--are hoping that the Cascades trains will continue to be funded by the legislature. It's going to be tight if we do.
