Amtrak train 4 from Los Angeles Sunday, May 5th will have, on rear of train, properly pointed, 4 private cars: Salisbury Beach, Pacific Sands, Overland Trail, and TIOGA PASS. These four cars are headed for Grand Central Station in New York City for the 100th birthday celebration of that famed terminal. These cars will move thru to Chicago, and will leave Chicago on train 48, the Lakeshore Limited, on Wednesday, May 8th to Albany, NY. The routing from Albany is still uncertain - either a special train from Albany direct to GCT, or to Penn Station New York on the Lakeshore, and then to GCT from Sunnyside Coach Yards.
These 4 cars will leave New York on Monday, May 12th on train 91 for Washington, DC. After a layover in Washington, they will leave Washington Wednesday, May 15th for Atlanta and New Orleans, and then on to Los Angeles on the Sunset Limited, train no. 1, on May 18th.
Full meal and dining service will be provided on this entire trip. Some space is still available on segments of this trip. For example, a roomette from New Orleans to Los Angeles, with full service, $900.00. Passengers wll have full access to all four private cars on the journey.
