At some point, the state of Washington has to realize that they need a new heavy rail route out of Seattle to the north. The route in the ocean is not doing the job.

State is starting to look at HSR, which almost certainly be new route.

The remediation that BNSF has been doing on the worst slide zones around Mukilteo has had good results. Slide incidents have reduced dramatically over 3/4 years ago. We had record or near record rain through January. There were a LOT of slides all over western Washington last week. But that historically problem ridden area near Mulilkteo didn't slide, and remained open for Amtrak service. Things have improved quite significantly.
