New Surfliner, November 17
First new Surfliner since May 2001!
First new Surfliner to Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo since October 1995!
Coming to the Surfliner route in Los Angeles, Ventura, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo Counties on November 17, 2004.
New train 799 leaves Los Angeles at 7:30 a.m. making all existing Pacific Surfliner stops (including Chatsworth) and arriving in San Luis Obispo at 12:45 p.m. After a quick turn around, train 798 leaves southbound at 1:20 p.m., arriving back in Los Angeles at 7:10 p.m.
Train 798 connects to trains 590/592 for through connections to Orange and San Diego Counties. Train 799 leaves Los Angeles before any other Pacific Surfliners arrive, but there is a Pacific Surfliner Motor Coach from Santa Ana and Fullerton which does connect to 799.
In San Luis Obispo, Amtrak motor coaches connect from 799 to San Jose (and a connection to the Capitol Corridor train to Sacramento), San Francisco and Oakland. The same connections in the reverse direction will exist for train 798.
