So there has been another derailment on the Hi-Line, fairly close to the one yesterday. What is BNSF's plan to improve this part of the line - and when are they saying it will be fully in operation for continuing passenger trains and freights? If any train, the Empire Builder needed this the least - with it's already poor timekeeping ability because of many other factors. Constant derailments don't need to be added to the mix. And what is the empire builder currently doing now to compensate for the closed line?

Here's your answer from the BNSF website:

On Thursday, July 16th, 2015 at 07:05 p.m. Central Time we received a preliminary report that the U-TNDAWA0-10 derailed on the main track at Culbertson, Montana. Culbertson, Montana is approximately 45 miles west of Williston, North Dakota. The main track was opened to resume normal operations at 12:01 a.m. Central Time on July 18th, 2015.

Customers may experience delays of 48 to 72 hours on shipments moving through this corridor.

The offending train was an oiler running from Trenton, ND to Arco, WA.
