Beginning on December 1 there will be a signal suspension in effect in South Florida from Coconut (near Boynton Beach MP SX982.8) to Rankin (north of Deerfield Beach MP SX996). There will be a total of 6 DTC blocks available. Alpha #1 & 2, Beta #1 & 2, and Charlie #1 & 2. Alpha block extends from Coconut (SX982.8) to Clune (SX988.5), Beta block extends from Clune to Pineapple (SX993.2), Charlie block extends from Pineapple to Rankin (SX996). CP's Pineapple, Meteor (SX991.1), and Clune will be lined for straight movements 1 to 1 and 2 to 2 respectively. Two new CP's will be cut in, Clune SX988.5 and Meteor SX991.1. Three new intermediate signals will be cut in, SX984.7 on both tracks both directions (NB Distant to Coconut), SX986.9 on Track 1 both directions (SB Distant to Clune), and SX992.3 both tracks NB only (Distant to Meteor). Cut outs include SE Boynton, NE Yamato, SE Yamato, and Intermediate signal at SX987.8 (Distant to Yamato). Even though its already been cut in for a while, there are twin DD's at SX991.5, just south of Meteor. There will also be manual restart triggers NB out of Delray Beach for Atlantic Ave, code 241* or 242*, and SB out of Boca Raton for Yamato Rd, code 271* or 272*. So what does all this mean? When the signal suspension is complete there will be Double Track from Seaboard (SX973) 3 miles south of West Palm to Carmen (SX1011) just north of Ft Lauderdale. The days of stopping to wait on Northbound Tri Rails are coming to a close, and there will be much faster service with limited need of crossing over. For the duration of the signal suspension there will be a Speed Limit of 59 MPH, and passengers can expect delays of 15 to 30 minutes.

One addendum, the exsisting Intermediate on the Main at 986.9 will become the Intermediate (SB Distant to Clune) on Track 2.
