It looks like the Sunset Limited 2(13) is terminated in Houston. Severe flooding of the Sabine River, the TX/LA border, has already closed I-10 and the trains route is just a few miles upstream from the Interstate highway. The next SL westbound, 1(16) is listed as "Sold Out" from NOL to SAS, probably because the equipment is in Houston.

Ouch. How does Amtrak handle the passengers in this case? Fly them? (What if a passenger has a medical condition that precludes flying?) Put them up in hotels until the track opens? Kick them off the train and wash its hands?

With apologies to Pete Townsend

Bustitue me for him

Bustitute my coke for gin

Bustitute you for my mom

at least ill get my washing done

would be my guess

It would be highly unusual for Amtrak to fly anyone on Amtrak's dime. Bussing may be done for en route passengers...for people who haven't left yet, the answer in cases like this is generally "no alternate transportation provided." This isn't a case of a simple short-hop bus bridge...this is a hundreds mile long detour.
