Hi Folks, Due to unforseen circumstances (lack of cash!) I have had to postpone an extensive amtrak rail trip I had planned for Jan 2005.

My son aged 11 would like to accompany me on a usa rail trip in March 2005, and would like to see some snow..will there be snow along the california zephyr route at that time? if so where would be a good place for a snowy stopover? (we are not looking to ski or anything - more like snow fights!)

Thanks!

There will almost for sure be snow along the CZ route. Especially in the Rockies. I am planning on taking that route as well sometime in March or April. If the ski resorts are open until April, then there's bound to be snow.

Once you exit the Moffat Tunnel Westbound you are in the hear of ski country at Winter Park Ski Resort. There will certainly be snow left there, and probably for most of your trip to Grand Junction.
