Wow...I had no idea that spectacular scenery existed over there....I thought that my being in Hong Kong, meant I had "been to China"....boy, was I wrong!

Some day, I'll have to go look for those scene's.... :)

I'm a Chinese expat and I've noticed that at least one of the captions is wrong. The second picture is not Aer Mountain, it's most likely somewhere in Southwest China. Geographically speaking, Southwest China would be Tibet, but it actually means the southwestern part of China around Kunming before the takeover of Tibet.

The most scenic train rides in China are in the provinces of Yunnan and Guizhou. Here's an older map of China's rail routes: http://www.bueker.net/trainspotting/map.php?file=maps/china--taiwan/china--taiwan.gif.

Of course the new HST lines are not going to be as scenic as the old classics. A great one is the meandering Qiangui Line, from Luizhou to Guiyang: http://img.hasea.com/attachment/lbupfile/D/5/D5D5C6AC5920077_1115142619.jpg.
