That Chase/AGR companion coupon

I got one of those coach companion coupons when I signed up for the Chase AGR card. Not sure I'm going to be able to use it before the expiration date. Anyone know what would happen if you booked a trip for two and then "cancelled" the reservation? I guess you'd just

get the single person fare back as a voucher??

And if it says valid thru 10/15/2015 does anyone know if travel must be completed by that date or just reserved by that date?

Correct, although you could put in a claim with AGR for the coupon credit. Travel must start by the valid to date.
