Just as a heads up to everyone out there. Through the pipeline I've heard that Amtrak Police and Management have really been out in full force lately looking at a number of security, rules, and safety issues. Notably, spotters will be out on many trains doing efficency checks, observing LSA's & Conductors, and whatever else. Also, I heard of one railfan in Miami who was reportedly questioned by Amtrak Police and the FBI after being found with Amtrak books, ID badges, etc. I don't know when and where they'll be checking, but keep your eyes open, and try to remain low key. Be conscious and safe out there.

Regarding the railfan being checked out by the police and FBI:

Where the ID badges legitimate? Were they his? If the answer to either of those questions is "no," that would certainly be cause for alarm.
