Sitting in Longview Texas waiting for mechanics from Fort Worth to arrive and install new fuel pump on engine. Dropped power twice since leaving Dallas. Tried using ice from diner to keep engine/fuel pump cool. Limped into Longview and waiting patiently. Think we'll call it a night. Could be a few hours.

Fuel pump didn't do the job. Had to wait for help just past Longview. U.P 3826 (SD70M) pulling Amtrak 97 and train 22 to Chicago. 79 mph no problem. About seven hours late going to St. Louis.

Most likely the GPS he was using could not get accurate readings in the car. I have seen a gps show 145 mph on the spillway bridge that burned down. It has a speed restriction of 15 mph before the fire so 145 was way wrong.
