Anybody know what happened to the Eastbound SWC today? It arrived over 7 hours late into Chicago. That is really unusual for the Chief.

Even though I'm thinking it mostly runs on BNSF rails, I'm still going to blame UP.

You'd almost think they were behind something. Does the Burlington ever run EXTRAs that get priority and foul up everything ahead and behind?

I have learned what happened one of units crapped out in the middle of nowhere. They were having problems when they left LA but LA made them take it.

You would've thought they could get an engine from BNSF in Kansas City....

I thought Amtrak still kept a spare locomotive in Albuquerque... there was one stored there when I went through ABQ in January, 2004. I know Amtrak keeps a spare at Denver Union Station for the Zephyr and at San Antonio for the Sunset Limited & Texas Eagle trains.

No they don't anymore.

didn't they have one at Raton or La Junta? Seems like years ago they put on an extra at La Junta for the mountains.

Many Years ago yes currently no. But BNSF does.
