This just proves up's strategic plan has a few bumps in it. They knew very well last year they would be short of crews, but they had no idea about how much more cargo they would be hauling. Add the factor of being short of locomotives and you have a nightmare. Odd that by cutting costs they incurr much larger costs. ;)
 
Probabaly sold the construction contract to the cheapest bidder (must have been a subsiduary company of the up cooperation).
 
Here is a good one when i was coming into our yard in Avondale La we had a UP train that wanted to use our main line to go up the Huey P Long Bridge so our dispatcher gave him a track warrnet and held us out of town until he relesed his warrent well it took 1 hr for that UP train to go 1 mile and then they died right on our main line before going up the bridge. :angry:
