Where to park - NOL or HBG?

I am planning this trip for the next year: NOL-LAX; LAX-GPK; GPK-CHI-NOL.

I know that parking in NOL is not free. Do you know what the fee is and how safe the parking is?

My other idea is to start and finish trip in HBG (Hattiesburg) because I pay with AGR points anyway.

Anybody has any information about parking at HBG station? I guess it should be free? But how safe?

I can save probably about a hundred dollars this way.

This goes back to 2006, but I left my vehicle in a parking lot adjacent to the Amtrak station in New Orleans for about a week late that year, and it was fine when I got back to it. I recall there was a parking lot attendant who took my check (maybe around $5 a day) and a little something extra in cash that I slipped him, and all was cool. Don't know if things have changed since.
