Worried about mud slides

We will be taking a little trip soon, we will take the EB to PDX, arriving Jan 17, '13 then the Cascades 516 to Vancouver, BC. Spend the night in VAN then board the Canadian (1/18) to Toronto.

We do have an extra day scheduled in VAN - is it enough? Should we do anything else or should we just accept the possibility of SEA -VAN by bus :angry:

It really depends on the weather, but no matter what, Amtrak will get you there. The EB to PDX is very unlikely to be affected. 516 might have issues, but they always run buses if the train isn't running. The Northwest is a great place, and I'm sure that you'll enjoy your trip. So don't worry, relax and enjoy.
