11/25/08 27 Empire Builder CHI - PDX 1 Bedroom

11/27/08 11 Coast Starlight PDX - LAX 1 Bedroom

Rail Fare: $244.00

Accommodations Price: $1,126.00

Total: $1,370.00

Using an AGR Mastercard, would you get 2,740 points when you buy the tickets and another 2,740 after the conductor collects the tickets? Or do you only get 1,370 points from the conductor?

No, under that scenario you'd get over 5,000 AGR points as you'll get two points via the credit card and two points when you turn in the tickets.

Ps. I'm moving this to the AGR forum.

And you'd get an additional 2740 points if you signed up for the fall double points promotion.

But keep in mind that only the 2740 points associated with your ticket (i.e. from the conductor) qualify for Select or Select Plus status with Amtrak Guest Rewards. Everything else is considered "bonus points" and will not qualify.

Unless you're lucky enough to get the special offer that AGR seems to send out to some people each fall that does count bonus points towards status.
