Wonder what the heck happened to both the Zephyrs that left on 12/28.

5(28) was doing just fine until something between Granby and Glenwood Springs made the train loose 7 hours in one fell-swoop!

6(28) was also doing relatively good until troubles between Elko and Salk Lake City began dragging it down... And then it went from just under 3 hours to over 7 hours down at Glenwood Springs.

Colorado has not been friendly to those trains.

From TO:

The wheel of a freight train split apart and broke the rail just above Glenwood Springs. #5 was stuck holding behind it and we were held at the GSC station for about 5-6 hours while they dealt with the aftermath. Provided we hold through the rest of the day, it is looking like a 9 hour delay into Chicago.

Before GSC, we also ran into a broken rail in Utah between Cisco and White House and had restricted speed between Elko and SLC. Onboard spirits have remained mostly positive but folks are hoping that CSRs will board at Galesburg to help sort things out for connecting pax.
