While this cocktail menu is new and shiny, amazing drinks on the CS aren't new. The tastiest Bloody Mary I've ever had was made by the famous Debby in the PPC a few years back. She had developed her own recipe with a "secret ingredient". Ironically, she was a non-drinker.
 
The souvenir mugs are in stock!

Had a Moscow Mule on the 14(21) today. Excellent! And a real mixed drink - free poured from a fifth, not one of those little airplane bottles. A business class ticket got me into the PPC (or, rather, the SSL that's subbing for the PPC this trip). Although the business class attendant said I was supposed to bring it back to my seat to drink, I don't think anyone would have cared if I stayed in the SSL - only a couple other people in there. Suppose it might be different if it were an actual PPC.

That is one nice looking mug-is it brushed aluminum? I could easily find room in the cupboard for a set of those.
 
Nice!!! I hope they are still doing this next April. My son would love that cup and I'm sure I can manage to take care of drinking that drink for him so that he can have the cup when I am done ;)
 
All this is fine, well, and good. But it really does highlight the inconsistency of service of long-distance passenger rail in this country.

There was a time when the Pullman Co. employee manual had detailed instructions on the preparation and, almost as importantly, the presentation of the drink to the passenger (served at your seat of course).

Perhaps Amtrak could serve an Arnold Palmer in all of its bar cars for the next month in remembrance of The King.

Since an Arnold Palmer is iced tea and lemonade, it could be a nice addition for all ages in the cafe cars.
 
If you're not a Moscow Mule fan you can get any of the signature drinks served in the copper mug.
 
I was just curious if anyone knows if the souvenir mugs are still available? Our trip is finally getting a little closer and I was really hoping to pick up a couple of the mugs while we are on the CS.

You all know I'm pretty vocal about the deprecation of food service across Amtrak, but I'm really glad to see some good product being served on the PPC.
 
They were $7.50 with no drinks of that helps anyone. Rain is making us super late today waiting for a high rail escort in salinas right now.
