    NYP-WPB Silver Meteor

Are you asking the difference between the Silver Meteor and Silver Star?? We've only traveled on the Meteor, so I couldn't give you any info on the Star except I know it's a longer ride to WPB if we booked that train.

    NYP-WPB Silver Meteor

On Thursday we boarded the #97 at NYP. The train pulled out of the station on time!. Every single station we stopped at, we were early. Our train attendant southbound was Alan, who was very informative and pleasant. He let us know before hand what stations were coming up next. The dining...

New Consist Arrangement forSilver Service and the Crescent

May I ask a dumb question? How long has Amtrak been running the Viewliners at the front of the consist??? It's been 2 years since I last rode Amtrak, why all of a sudden two years later is there a safety issue with the Viewliners? Where are the sleepers positioned in all the...

New Consist Arrangement forSilver Service and the Crescent

The reason I didn't post to that thread was the last post on there is April 28th. The most recent thread on the issue was "closed" as of 9:31 A.M this morning.

New Consist Arrangement forSilver Service and the Crescent

Since the "why" thread has been closed, I just wanted to add my input to the new Silver Meteor Viewliner consist. We just returned home on Sunday from WPB. I vote to have the sleepers returned to the front of the train. The ride was completely different with the sleepers in the rear on both...

    Rough Track

Guess I'm in for a real experience with the sleepers now in the rear (NYP-WPB)! :o In 2007 they were up front. I too, love hearing the train whistle. I never knew there were that many country crossings down south.

    Rough Track

We were on the Silver Meteor in 2007 and yes, there is some really rough track in the Carolinas. But, coming back from Florida, there was a stretch of track that was as smooth as silk. Leaving today on the Meteor and will be prepared for the rough track in the middle of the night!

Anyone know what happened to the Crescent yesterday?

What happened in DC Union Station yesterday, was the Silver Meteor affected which was due into WPB today at 4:54 PM? Hopefully, everything is running back close to normal. I don't want to even think we'll have another "delay (5 hrs)" like we did two years ago, since we're leaving tomorrow. :o

    Meals on Silver Meteor/Siver Star

When we boarded the Silver Meteor (sleeper car) at West Palm Beach at 10:15 in 2007, breakfast was still being served. So, if you're boarding in Miami, I would assume you would get breakfast.

    nervous

Heather, two years ago, my husband and I went on our first long distance Amtrak ride (24+ hours one way). At that time, we reserved a bedroom. Not knowing what to expect, I joined this forum. I asked some dumb questions, but with the answers I got, the members made me feel at ease. Every...

How hard to get 90 MPH on the Atlantic Coast Services?

Thank you for the link. :) OK on the switch point. Is a human responsible for changing the desired track for an approaching train or is it done via computer technology? "The frog is designed to ensure the wheel crosses the gap in the rail without "dropping" into the gap; the wheel and rail...
