Count me in, too - I was, like others, much more active last spring and summer as we were planning our cross-country trip. I do still read the posts often, enjoy the comments and helpful info, and dream of another Amtrak trek.

The Amtrak page shows a list of "Selected Fares." Does this mean that the ones shown are just a sample of many other routes available in this sale -- or does it mean that only these routes have been selected for the sale?

Thanks. As might be apparent from my frequency of posts today, we're about to embark on our first coast-to-coast, leaving Sunday night, returning July 10. We're better prepared now, thanks to this forum. (But could someone please come help me pack and clean up the house.... :P )

In a sleeper for 2 days of the outbound trip, coach on the return (I should have said that). I'm glad I asked - the restaurant comparison never occurred to me. Now assuming we are lucky enough to have an outlet at our seat, I assume it'd be okay to use it for our coil heater (IF we find it)...

We plan to take tea bags & coffee singles with us on our LD trip. Can we take our cups to the snack bar and get them filled with hot water? (Okay, a totally trivial matter, but a "yes" means we don't have to search high & low for our missing immersion coil heater :) .)
