Has there been any update as to what is happening with this? I find it interesting that the only report of this is from a local newspaper that didn't bother to get comment from Amtrak to learn their plans.

Actually, I was in the LA lounge a few weeks ago, and they were serving the same boxed juice as is available on board. Perhaps it was a fluke, or perhaps a change. Either way: Blech.
The sunset limited (#2) is currently estimated to leave lax around 2 hours late, awaiting coast starlight passengers that are arriving by bus, according to a metroliner lounge employee at lax. This is not yet reflected on the website, and is subject to change depending on when the bus arrives...

I'm a bit curious on how crew changes (conductors and engineers) work on trains that only run 3 times a week such as the Texas Eagle/Sunset Limited.
