Just heard this in an email from my Canadian boyfriend, it must have been on the TV news up there, I will find a link. This subject was getting a lot of press on both sides of the border for the last few weeks as the Provincial and Washington State governments and tourism boards put a lot of lobbying pressure on Ottawa to fund the customs and immigration border services to process the late evening arrival of the second train. Ottawa had wanted the State of Washington to pick up the tab to the tune of $550,000 which really made no sense.
I am glad they caved on this issue! Nothing was certain up til this point except that the Washington governor had issued an ultimatum to make a decision by Friday or they would discontinue the service at the end of the month. They were NOT going to pay the money to fund Canada's border security services!
Good news - I will find a link.
Well, I went to this Pacific Northwest Economic Region - Transportation Working Group, Amtrak Cascades page that was linked to in the last email I got from the Cascades newsletter.

They have a list of links to articles about this second train subject which gives you all the background you could ever want, but it isn't updated with the latest news. Will try to find something official . .
Here we go! Seattle Times - Second Amtrak train from Seattle to Vancouver, BC, to continue:

Cool!
