#4 11 HOURS LATE TO CHI

I see on amtrak's train status, #4 is due in chicago at 2am!! What's going on..bad weather?

Basically, Amtrak's "state of good repair" has gone to hell in a handbasket, and engines have been failing left and right this past week. Train 51 was terminated due to a problem with its locomotive (shelled wheels). Train 58 had bad engine problems the other day.

Even the Hiawatha has had some engine problems. See the report I'm about to post in the trip reports section for the latest Hiawatha debacle.

Yes 2nd time it has happened in 2 Weeks on 4. BNSF 1103 is pulling the train this time. 7654 last time.

And anybody know why yesterday's westbound Zeph. was 12 hours late into Sac? Left Den. only 30 minutes late. ? Weather wasn't bad eiither?
