422 cancelled Mid January

Just got a call from Amtrak, saying that my ride on 422 had been cancelled due to track maintenance.

My trip is on Jan 14-17.

Does anyone know where the maintenance is?

Any recommendations for the reroute? CS/EB to Chicago via Portland?

When are you leaving and why?Most times UP does track work on the Sunset/Eagle Route there are re-routes or bustitutions.
And the SWC and the CS/CZ are alternates from LAX-CHI!

But I figure it's worth it, as I've heard the CZ scenery is some of the best in the country.

Amtrak will not cover the overnight since the SWC was an option to Chicago from LAX,

I agree, the CZ is my favourite of all the Amtrak routes.

Union Pacific is performing track work around Yuma, AZ. It will require closing the railroad entirely for a couple of days during the times the Sunset Ltd is scheduled to operate through the area.

Train 1 originating in NOL on Jan 10 and 13 will operate New Orleans to El Paso only.

Train 421 originating Jan 9 and Jan 12 will operate Chicao to El Paso only.

Train 2/422 originating LAX on Jan 12 and Jan 14 will instead originate in ELP on Jan 13 and 15.

No alternate transportation provided between LAX and ELP.

An 800 mile bustitution would be arduous. So it makes sense that there's no alternative given.

That scared me for a moment.. Im on the SL from LAX on 1/17.. I really hope this doesnt get cancelled either. :/
