I am considering taking advantage of Amtrak's new Adirondack promotion and going on an overnight trip to Plattsburgh, NY in early April. Does anyone know if there are usually taxis around the station, or if I should look up a number to call one when I get there?

When I went there a few years ago, the Best Western (Smithfield IIRC) had a free shuttle with station pickup, even though it's on the other side of town. Most of the hotels are around I-87, about 5 miles away. Even the Holiday Inn (almost next to the BW, but on the nearer side of I-87) does not have shuttle service. So for all other hotels that I know of, you have to call a cab.

The station is not staffed by an agent, but it is open and staffed by a volunteer at train time.
