Because Amtrak is discontinuing Express Shipping and will eventually eliminate it from all trains. It was causing to many delays to the passengers and not making enough money.

Amtrak tried to make money but can't make profits on boxcars. That is the biggest reason. Only thing that can make money is hauling mail. The boxcars will be slowly phased out this year.
