At present there are at least two things that would have put that proposal on hold. The first simply, is the fact that Amtrak signed that agreement last summer stating that they wouldn't expand service. They also can't afford to expand the service right now either.jdwolfskill said:DarkerOne,The AMTRAK Pocono Service of which you speak was a proposed service from Scranton, PA to Hoboken, NJ over the old Erie-Lackawanna cut-off. An article in the Pocono Record newspaper a long while back (1999-2000) stated that PennDOT was then fishing for a cost estimate from AMTRAK to provide the service from Scranton in 2004, and extend it to Binghamton, NY in 2008. I'm not sure what eventually happened to the whole idea. I don't think any AMTRAK trains run to Scranton today.
