So I an give some insight for you. I arrived into Seattle on 7 on the 22nd. We had an issue with our third engine in between Stanley and Minot. That engine continued to Seattle. Not sure where it happened. But we added a BN unit to lead the train to Seattle. We arrived into Seattle around 145pm. After that I don't know. I'm off the clock at that point. It doesn't matter to me lol!

Thank You for the update information - - -

slasher-fun --- where did you get this information ? Can I access it on the internet source ?

Acela150 --- interesting Amtrak has recently added a third engine that goes kaput (issue) and a replacement BNSF is leading the train
some kind of jinx with this EB route - a lot of noteworthy attention - - -
Montana derailment
Amazon delivery truck accident (Columbus)
Police action at Red Wing
and frequent assistance from BNSF

Chicago is going to be juggling train sets until EB #8 arrives to turn to another consist

Trust me.. I'm well aware of the stuff that goes on with the EB. Tomorrow will be interesting to say the least. I don't think that Chicago has enough spare equipment to put together a trainset. But we shall see.

Yes - that would be a full house 3 8's and 2 7's in motion all at the same time

#8 (24) just left SEA
#8 (23) near Minot ND
#8 (22) Grand Forks ND

#7 (24) at Saint Cloud MN
#7 (23) near Essex MT

#28 & #27 not factored in at this posting - - -

I was on 7 just today (arriving SEA on the 24th). We were only two hours late into Seattle caused by the same incident, but I saw the various individuals and crowds at stations who suffered from this gargantuan delay.

based on the announcements I heard, it was basic freight interference at first, but horribly gone wrong. The train broke down, blocking the east own EB.

this is what I heard/had a long discussion with my conductor about.

Well, I was wrong. Chicago did indeed have enough spare equipment for a train. The train arrived a shade over 23 hours late. The OBS crew got on the new train and left for Seattle. It supposedly has 161 leading. Train 8 out of Seattle today is still in the yard. The inbound had issues with a broken rail and a downed tree.

I really feel bad for those OBS, literally on for 80+ hours nonstop.

Probably the only consolation is earning double time or double time and half Holiday Pay if that is the current Scrooge rate of pay !
But the time off between trips is more imperative to ones health and well being !
Did 6 double shifts with a 7 hour break in between in my youth and vigor taking home a pay check matching the regional VP this back in the late 60's.
But then we didn't have this covid factor - just plain ordinary flu and colds - take two of these and sweat it out.

EB #8 12/25 left 21 minutes late and now running about 3:30 late - going to screw up
the #28 (running on time) connection at Spokane

#8 12/24 is running well with miniscule lateness
#8 12/23 arrived Chicago about a couple hours late
#8 12/22 arrived almost a full day late

#7 12/24 running on time and in places early +
#7 12/25 departed Chicago 1:55 late and picking time up minute by minute
still 1:35 late

Just you wait till next week the weather is going down on the (-) minus F/C side - frozen broken switches icying of the rails all that good stuff.

I think they took two sleepers from gf of 29. I overheard the crew discussing that these cars would be swapped out in Chicago. I posted this news in my trip report. Someone replied that they were probably being used for 7.
