Amtrak Viewliner Baggage Cars

Hello, I have been seeing new baggage cars on the LSL and The Cardinal, and heritage baggage cars on the H.S. (Cardinal) deadheading to Indianapolis, and taken to Beech Grove.

I have a few questions, when will the new baggage cars start being put on the superliner trains, and when will the V2 Diners abd Sleepers start coming out?

Yes, you will find that your questions are not answered on that topic, either.

The short answer to both your questions is "sometime this year".

1. When CAF gets more ready for delivery

2. When Amtrak can ferry the new ones to Miami

3. When Amtrak can finish all mods needed for revenue service

4. When Amtrak can ferry complete road ready baggage back to Washington or NYP and then ferry them to Chicago and New Orleans.

5. When Amtrak can deliver the cars to the various locations that need the training which as an example took 4 - 6 weeks for the east coast trains. Probably one or two routes at a time.

6. Then they can be assigned to the western trains.
