I have roomette reservations from ALB-CHI-MRC mid May on 449 & 421. I would like to upgrade my 421 leg to a bedroom and the Amtrak site has said there's a bedroom available for past few weeks. BUT. when I call Amtrak they tell me they don't see anything available yet their website still shows one available !

I've called them about 5 straight days - no luck !

What do I do now ? Any suggestions ?
 
It's likely that there isn't a single room available end to end. There may be one room open CHI-SAS and another SAS-MRC, for example. The website "sees" one room worth of availability over the entire route, but when agents go to book it they can't.

The solution seems to be get a patient agent on the line that's willing to work with you and try to find where the "break" is, and get you in Room A for however long it's open and then in Room B for the rest of the trip.
