...it is terrible. I've got that far. I recall the on-time performance sits at something like 25%.

However, I'm interested in whether anyone here has used it enough - or perhaps lives near it and regularly observes it, or something such - to know the form such delays tend to take - be it normally about an hour late, maybe two, three, five hours, a day, or whatever. And, indeed, whether one particular day or month of operation is for some reason one to avoid for reliability.

The reason for this being of importance is that I have a friend in Westminster, MD I would want to be staying with that night, having been in Indianapolis the previous day, and while the best train to catch from DC to be met by them is MARC 895 to Frederick leaving at 6:30PM, MARC 883 to Martinsburg, WV at 7:15PM as far as Point of Rocks will also suffice. However, it seems very likely that the Cardinal will fail to make either of these. This would be a great shame, as part from the practical concern of needing to get back to Frederick/Point of Rocks, I love traveling on the Brunswick Line, for the scenery, stations, staff and rolling stock.

Two final questions:

- Does anyone know of other ways to reach that part of MD after the departure of the final MARC trains?

- Is there a website showing such delay statistics, so that I don't need to bother you with such concerns again?

Cardinal had a 31.3% on time rating last fiscal year. So far for this year through June it's holding at 47%.

Of course that in no way tells one just how late it was or wasn't all the rest of the times that it didn't arrive on time. And note, on time means within 30 minutes of schedule.

Made 895: 33% (Wednesday: 0%. Friday: 25%. Sunday: 75% but 895 does not operate)

Made 883: 50% (Wednesday: 0%. Friday: 50%. Sunday: 100% but 883 does not operate)

This is altogether rather annoying - the best performance is on the day that MARC trains do not run!

However, this is only four weeks - not the most representative of samples. So, I'd like to know, if anyone can answer:

- To what extent are days of the week actually likely to be a factor, as opposed to being coincidence?

- I would be traveling around December - how are seasonal variations likely to affect it?

So I'd be very grateful of anyone with knowledge of the train and its operation.
