Anyone know what's happened to the CL tonight? It's stuck before South Bend for over 2 hours.

Finally found out. Supposedly, it hit an abandoned car. It's now running but about 3 hours late. That's twice within a week that a Cleveland train has been in a wreck with a vehicle.

Still sitting in Cleveland, almost 5 hours late. Not Amtrak's fault though. Would love a few minutes with the owner of that car.

Just left PGH at 10am. Looks like at least three + hours late into DC. Looks like those Silver Star Riders are going to need to switch to the Meteor (if they are headed to Fla). One crazy car crash certainly affects the lives of hundreds of people this morning. :(

Can Amtrak prosecute this as attempted manslaughter of "x" people, where x = the number of passengers and train crew?

Not directly, unless you could somehow prove that someone left the car there on purpose in order to derail the train. I assumed that it was at least reckless endangerment, but I found this, which indicates that "obstruction of a railroad" is a crime in and of itself.
