Are there adequate bathrooms in the coach section?

They are adequate in terms of number of them, but sometimes can be very untidy.
It may depend on your definition of adequate. It may depend on which train also. Generally, there is a adequate number of restrooms in coach. In my opinion, they are not always adequately cleaned.

I would suggest bringing some surface cleaning wipes.
Bathrooms or Restrooms - no rest for the wicked - - - and no bath either !
It helps if the crew would pay attention to the frequent cleanliness and supplying the facility with paper towels and sanitizer.
Even more so when a passing hint is directed their way that the loo needs attention !
The problem gets worse when traveling on the bouncing derailing tracks of a certain east coast RR - trying to aim for the
center spot and being thrown off target because the rails are out of alinement to the direction of travel.
