Double AEM-7s 3/26

To Regional trains today (3/26) had double toasters coming though PHL. Both were 7-car consists, and both locos had their pantographs extended.

The one was train 127, and (I think) the other was a 20 minute late 94.

If there was a rescue engine, the pantograph is usually down on the broken unit.

Do the older, non-converted units not have enough power to run single? I've usually only seen double power on LD trains in winter.

The reason behind the Double is one just got out of the shop.

Amtrak chooses to run DH's to ensure the unit that just came out of the shop doesn't break down while on a train.

Used to have two engines because trins were 12 or more cars on a train.
