I thought coach prices only go up over time...

I had NYP to LNS booked for AUG 9, at $85.85 with Student Advantage discount. I looked today, and it was $68.85 instead, so I re-booked and canceled my original reservation.

I thought coach seating prices only go up over time. Should I be keeping an eye on the prices for the other tickets I have booked as well?

This happened to me after I had reserved a sleeper. It was one price, then a few days after I booked it, the bedroom went lower than the roomette! So I 'upgraded' to a bedroom from a roomette and they gave me money back!

They told me that there could be several reasons: adding of another car, cancellations, etc.

Amtrak uses Buckets Yield Management to determine there fares, so when someone cancels from a higher bucket, sometimes it may go back down a bucket.
