Luggage

I'm traveling from Havre or Malta, Montana by Amtrak to Pittsburgh, and I'll change trains in Chicago. I'll be traveling in Coach. Would it be better for me to check my suitcase or bring it with me? If I checked my bag, would it automatically be transferred to the train to Pittsburgh, or would I need to claim it and recheck it? Does anyone know if it's even possible to check a bag at these two stations?

Havre has checked luggage. You can check luggage straight through to Pittsburgh, and not have to worry about it in Chicago. Alternately you can carry your suitcase onto the coach with you. There are large luggage racks on the lower level of the coach. Me, I'd check the bag, because then you wouldn't have to worry about stashing it during your layover in Chicago.
