Finally got tired of the TSA so I booked my yearly FL trip on Amtrak. I took the Silver Service R/T from NYP-TPA. I had booked a roomette as I was traveling solo but was pleasantly surprised when I got a free upgrade on my southbound portion of the trip. On my return trip I didn't have the same luck but it gave me a chance to compare the two rooms.
The trip was very pleasant and relaxing. I didn't spend anytime in the lounge, but I did enjoy the time to finish an audio book, watch several movies and just stare out the window as the scenery went by.
I have decided to do a cross country trip next summer. NY-LA via the Pennsylvania-Capital Limited-Empire Builder-Coast Starlight, and I will be picking your collective brains with all sorts of questions.
